Sendmail's goal is to expand the reach and capabilities of email security technology to benefit our customers and open source community. In support of this, Sendmail participates in and is a member of several industry organizations.

The Anti-Phishing Working Group (APWG) is the global pan-industrial and law enforcement association focused on eliminating the fraud and identity theft that result from phishing, pharming and email spoofing of all types.

DKIM is a leading technology in support of email sender authentication. It was advanced by an industry consortium in 2004 that included Sendmail and IBM along with Yahoo! and Cisco who merged and enhanced DomainKeys (Yahoo!) and Identified Internet Mail (Cisco) to create DKIM. The resulting specification is now in production use. DKIM is now with an IETF working group, for refinement and standardization.

EDUCAUSE is a nonprofit association whose mission is to advance higher education by promoting the intelligent use of information technology. Membership is open to institutions of higher education, corporations serving the higher education information technology market, and other related associations and organizations. The current membership comprises more than 2,000 colleges, universities, and educational organizations, including 200 corporations, with 15,000 active members.

The Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) is a large open international community of network designers, operators, vendors, and researchers concerned with the evolution of the Internet architecture and the smooth operation of the Internet. The actual technical work of the IETF is done in its working groups, which are organized by topic into several areas (e.g., routing, transport, security, etc.).

The purpose of MAAWG is to bring the messaging industry together to work collaboratively and successfully address forms of messaging abuse such as messaging spam, virus attacks, denial-of-service attacks, and other forms of abuse. To accomplish this, MAAWG is developing initiatives in the three areas needed to resolve the messaging abuse problem: Collaboration, Technology, and Public Policy.
