MIME Nesting Milter

The Sendmail Consortium announces the availability of nesting-filter, which provides a temporary workaround for the deeply nested MIME recursion denial of service attack fixed in sendmail 8.13.7. The nesting filter is an open source milter which detects deeply nested MIME messages that can cause the MTA denial of service and rejects, tempfails, quarantines, or discards those messages.

After downloading nesting-filter-1.0.0.tar.gz and verifying the PGP signature, unpack the tar file and follow the instructions in the enclosed README and INSTALL files for build and installation information.

NOTE: Support for nesting-filter is being provided on a best-effort basis only. Use the e-mail address found in the README in the distribution. Do not send questions to the sendmail-* mailing lists regarding nesting-filter.
