Emeryville, Calif., September 1, 2010 Sendmail, Inc., the leading provider of message
processing appliances and applications for enterprise messaging infrastructures, today
announced record-setting results for the first half of fiscal year 2010. Following two consecutive
years of record-breaking revenues in 2008 and 2009, the company’s momentum continued with
two record quarters in the first half of 2010. This tremendous growth has been the result of
increased demand for Sentrion® Message Processor appliances from Global 2000 enterprises
moving to virtualization and cloud computing in their messaging initiatives.
In the first six months of FY2010, Sendmail product revenue grew by more than 27 percent over
the same period of FY2009. In the past twelve months, Sendmail doubled sales in the Americas
and experienced the most successful four consecutive quarters of revenue growth in the
company’s 20-year history.
“Sendmail’s great results prove the value of modernized message processing for cost-conscious
IT enterprise organizations,” said Glen D. Vondrick, Sendmail executive vice president and chief
operating officer. “As these IT organizations closely examine migrating messaging functions to
the cloud, they gain a realization of their true overall messaging costs and discover the valuable
impact an intelligent email backbone can provide to complement email security solutions and
groupware mailbox systems. We can proudly boast that Sendmail Sentrion appliances are now
implemented as a separate internal layer between all the major email security solutions such as
Cisco/IronPort, Proofpoint, McAfee, Google/Postini, and Symantec/MessageLabs, as well as all
major groupware mailbox systems such as Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Notes, and others.”
Demand for Sendmail Sentrion appliances within enterprises was further fueled by the
completion of Sendmail Messaging Architecture Review services, which provided valuable
insight and recommendations to support cloud computing and Microsoft Exchange 2010
migrations. The addition of Intelligent Message Processing has also proven to further enhance
Microsoft Exchange performance and operation due to migrating policy and routing decisions
away from the Exchange servers.
“Blackboard leads the industry in enterprise technology and solutions for millions of students
around the world, and our Managed Hosting service processes millions of email messages a
week,” said Al DeGregorio, director of managed hosting, Blackboard Inc. “Email is a business-
critical application we rely on to service our customers. We had concerns that our existing mail
server implementation would have increasing difficulty handling our growing volume of traffic.
After conducting a Messaging Architecture Review with Sendmail, we selected Sentrion
Message Processors to provide the modernization of our messaging backbone. With Sentrion,
we now have a messaging application platform that will scale as we grow our business, freeing
us from potential bottlenecks.”
