Sendmail and Splunk Partner to Launch Enterprise Messaging Applications
Solution Provides Customers with Fully-integrated Monitoring and Reporting Applications for Sendmail Sentrion® Message Processors

Emeryville and San Francisco, Calif., August 12, 2010 — Sendmail, Inc., the leading provider of message processing appliances and applications for enterprise messaging infrastructures, today announced it has partnered with Splunk to integrate real-time monitoring and reporting capabilities into the Sentrion Message Processing Engine (MPE), Sendmail’s core messaging platform. The integrated application offers customers enterprise-class monitoring, reporting and analytics for their large-scale messaging infrastructures, providing real-time visibility and enhanced control.

Splunk is embedded as a core component of the Sentrion Message Processor with out-of-the-box message tracking, base reporting and analytics. Sendmail also offers an optional Enterprise Reporting application, Powered by Splunk, from the Sentrion App Store for more advanced reporting capabilities including the ability to easily create custom dashboards, provide ad-hoc reports and more. This optional application enables customers to integrate with an existing Splunk enterprise deployment for reporting and message tracking across the enterprise, including Groupware such as Microsoft® Exchange, to fulfill additional needs such as compliance reporting.

“As our enterprise customers increasingly add more messaging applications to their Sentrions, the requirement to provide custom reporting to effectively manage and measure the value of those applications becomes mission-critical,” said Nicholas Filippi, director of product management, Sendmail. “Splunk’s proven technology helps organizations increase their operational efficiency and visibility across their entire IT infrastructure. By leveraging Splunk within the Sentrion MPE, we give our customers a truly flexible platform to expand value-added messaging services across the enterprise helping provide a global view of the infrastructure.”

“We are looking forward to leveraging the integrated enterprise messaging application from Sendmail and Splunk to meet our needs for custom reporting and searching of our Sentrion data,” said Sprint Operations Lead, Debbie Finley. “This joint solution will allow Sprint to more effectively troubleshoot messaging issues. The custom reporting capabilities will give us the ability to create reports to meet the requirements of the business.”

“Splunk customers are achieving new levels of operational visibility through real-time monitoring and historical data analysis,” said Bill Gaylord, vice president of corporate and business development, Splunk. “With the addition of Splunk, Sendmail customers now have a proven, scalable solution to better manage their complex messaging infrastructures.”
