Sendmail Concludes Messaging Infrastructure Summit 2010
More than 40 Enterprises Gathered in New York to Exchange Ideas and Gain Valuable Insight on IT Architecture and Best Practices for Managing Enterprise Messaging Infrastructures

Emeryville, Calif., June 3, 2010 — Sendmail, Inc., the leading provider of reliable and secure email and messaging infrastructures, today announced the conclusion of its Messaging Infrastructure Summit in New York, NY. The two-day event occurred on May 25th & 26th and brought together IT executives and managers from over 40 of the world’s largest enterprises representing a wide range of industries, with heavy concentration from the regulated financial, health care and retail businesses. Sendmail customers took advantage of the opportunity to learn more from their industry peers on their common messaging challenges and gained valuable information on how each has succeeded in modernizing their messaging infrastructure. The Summit featured interactive conversations between customers on their experiences with cloud computing, virtualization, and how modernization impacts messaging processing efficiency and lowers operating costs. In addition to customer presentations, attendees participated in a product training workshop for Sendmail’s award winning Sentrion 4.0 Message Processors and learned about the latest popular add-on applications from the Sentrion App Store.

“The feedback we consistently receive from customers who attend our user events is how these meetings are quite unique due to the emphasis on message architecture and best practices, not on products, like most user events,” said Glen D. Vondrick, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Sendmail. “The depth and breadth of the customer presentations at the summit clearly established the critical importance of a modernized email backbone to manage the growing complexities enterprises face no matter which email system is used, which security point product is deployed, and whether an enterprise deploys mailboxes or hygien filtering on-premise or in the cloud. Messaging professionals’ came away with convincing proof of how Sendmail solves email backbone problems with Sentrion Message Processors.”

The event was created for IT messaging professionals responsible for their enterprise infrastructure and offered compelling insight into how peers have handled similar challenges inherent with today’s increasing message management complexity. Highlights include:

  • Fortis Bank NL received this year’s Most Innovative Use of Message Processing Award for their implementation of Sentrion Message Processors and the Sentrion Directory Synchronization App.
  • Customers such as Citigroup, Fortis Bank NL, GlaxoSmithKline, and Wells Fargo, spoke and shared experiences of modernizing their messaging infrastructure with Sentrion Message Processors.
  • The Sentrion product roadmap was reviewed along with Sendmail Customer Advisory Board feedback.
  • The Sendmail Sentrion App Store was introduced, outlining the uses and benefits of a variety of compliance, security, partner, enterprise, and community applications available as add-on solutions for the Sentrion platform.

To provide a comprehensive view of the full spectrum of enterprise messaging, Gartner Research Vice President, Matthew Cain was featured as a guest speaker and spoke to customers about messaging trends for cloud computing, SaaS, and virtualization. During his presentation, Cain noted the importance an email backbone plays in any enterprise infrastructure and commented on Sendmail’s unique position in that market. Cain also noted that in order to meet today’s dynamic messaging challenges, large enterprises looking at cloud computing would be wise to consider a hybrid message architecture with on-premise routing and intelligent policy management controls.
