Emeryville, Calif., October 29, 2009 Sendmail, Inc., the leading provider of reliable and secure email and messaging infrastructures, today announced that its Sentrion® Virtual Message Processor™ (MPV) has achieved VMware Ready™ status. This designation indicates that Sentrion MPV™ has passed a detailed evaluation and testing process managed by VMware and is now listed in the VMware Partner Product Catalog and on the Virtual Appliance Marketplace.
Passing the extensive VMware-specified testing helps ensure that Sentrion MPV is compatible with VMware technology and ready for deployment in customer environments.
Sendmail Sentrion Virtual Message Processor can be found within the online VMware Virtual Marketplace, or visit sendmail.com to request an evaluation version of Sentrion MPV.
Virtual appliances are pre-built, pre-configured, ready to run enterprise applications packaged with an operating system inside a virtual machine, allowing Sentrion MPV customers to reduce costs through server and application consolidation. By reducing the number of servers through virtualization, customers realize direct cost savings in hardware, floor space, and power and cooling. As a result, both capital expenses and ongoing operational expenses are decreased, which are key drivers in today’s data centers.
“We are pleased that Sentrion Virtual Message Processor qualifies for the VMware Ready logo, signifying to customers that it has passed specific VMware testing and interoperability criteria and is ready to run their mission-critical business applications and operations,” said Bernie Mills, senior director, alliance programs, VMware.
“Since introducing Sentrion MPV last year, we have seen tremendous adoption from our customers for our virtual messaging security appliance,” said Nicholas Filippi, director of product management with Sendmail. “The VMware Ready certification continues Sendmail’s momentum and commitment in providing production-ready virtual appliances that are reliable, secure, and optimized to perform on VMware’s virtualization platforms. It’s never been easier for companies to plan, evaluate and implement the modernization of their SMTP email backbone infrastructure.”
