EMERYVILLE, Calif., August 19, 2008 Sendmail, Inc., the leading provider of reliable and secure email and messaging infrastructures, today announced that sales results for the first six months of the 2008 fiscal year have increased by 76% over the same period in 2007. This revenue growth is largely attributed to increased worldwide demand for the company's Sentrion® family of Message Processor appliances and plug-in security applications. These results include the first shipments of the company's new Sentrion MPV virtual appliance, based on VMware, which was announced at the RSA conference in April.
"The tremendous growth we have experienced during this period of economic instability underscores the value proposition that we provide to our Global 1000 customer base," said Glen D. Vondrick, Sendmail's executive vice president and COO. "Our major customers, particularly in the financial services and healthcare sectors, face unprecedented challenges in managing their OPEX budgets. They are being required to reduce expenses without sacrificing functionality. Our success is proof that by consolidating several security layers into a single policy-based directory-driven infrastructure, enterprises can literally save millions of dollars in hard costs."
The company's Sentrion Message Processors are high-performance message security appliances that provide a unified solution to the complex problems of policy-based message handling and routing. A wide variety of inbound and outbound applications can be added to the Sentrion's message processing engine to allow customers to add gateway management, inbound protection, email authentication, outbound protection (data leak prevention) and intra-company message management, all with centralized administration, reporting and monitoring.
"The volume of messaging traffic and security threats continues to grow, while budgets are disappearing,' continued Vondrick. "This conundrum is forcing customers to rethink the efficiencies and costs of critical messaging infrastructure. When our expert email architects conduct an in-depth architectural review, we can quickly make recommendations leading to increased efficiencies and cost reductions, with a significant ROI. Our results over the past two quarters speak for themselves. In two quarters we have surpassed our revenue for all of 2006, and we've grown 76% from the same period in 2007, which was a record year for Sendmail."
The introduction of the Sentrion MPV "virtual" appliance is giving customers great flexibility in deployment configurations and helping meet green data center initiatives. While power and floorspace reductions are paramount to some, other customers have selected the Sentrion MPV in combination with Sendmail's hard appliances in order to tailor a solution that meets their specific performance and workload needs in distributed environments.
