Only a formal assessment of messaging networks can determine the risks an organization faces."

Enhances Trusted Unified Messaging Platform to Meet Growing Needs of the Secure Content Management Market
Sendmail’s Unique Bi-Directional Message Processing Capabilities Extend Beyond Inbound Protection to Safeguard Customers from Insider Threats
RSA Conference 2007
Booth #1736

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., RSA Conference – February 5, 2007 – Sendmail, Inc., the leading global provider of trusted messaging, today announced enhancements to its Trusted Unified Messaging Platform (TrUMP) with a number of significant product releases designed to support the growing need for bi-directional, policy-centric message processing and protection. The company unveiled three next-generation products that ensure trusted messaging against both external and internal threats. These new product releases, which leverage Sendmail’s 25-year history in messaging, include Sentrion™ 2.0, Flow Control™ 2.0 and Mailstream Manager™ 2.4.

Consistent with Sendmail’s vision to provide the industry’s only end-to-end solution for Secure Content Management, these releases feature significant updates including zero hour malware protection and IP reputation services to guard organizations from external threats like spam, viruses, phishing and spyware. To support the growing need for compliance and outbound message processing, the new releases provide built-in clientless encryption and policies for HIPAA and GLBA to prevent confidential information leakage from within.

“The Sendmail Trusted Unified Messaging Platform was engineered to provide large enterprise customers open, bi-directional control of their message processing,” said Donald J. Massaro, president and CEO, Sendmail. “Our new releases reflect the latest in inbound protection and, more significantly greater protection against the insider threat that cost US businesses more than 250 billion dollars in intellectual property losses in 2006. Sendmail’s high performance policy-centric capabilities provide our Global 1000 customers with the distinct advantage of being shielded from the broadest range of inbound threats and the ability to proactively detect and deter outbound violations.”

New Trusted Messaging Product Releases

Malicious attacks on messaging systems are becoming more sophisticated and widespread, while demand for outbound compliance solutions to protect against leakage of intellectual property and corporate governance violations is also on the rise. Thus, organizations are increasingly looking for integrated secure content management solutions that address multiple threats in a single platform. Sendmail addresses this need with three new product releases, Sentrion 2.0, Mailstream Manager 2.4, and Flow Control 2.0

Sendmail Sentrion 2.0

Sendmail Sentrion 2.0, the ultimate message processing machine, is the second-generation Sendmail messaging security appliance. Sentrion is designed to protect the enterprise from external security threats and internal compliance and governance violations. It is built on a hardened operating system, SentriOS™, which is tuned for high-performance, policy-centric message processing. Sentrion features three customer-proven, award-winning Sendmail software products running on a hardened appliance.

New in Sentrion 2.0:

    • Zero-hour anti-virus and malware protection • Packaged policies for HIPAA and GLBA compliance • Messaging policy testing • Integrated clientless encryption • Centralized management console upgrades

Sendmail Mailstream Manager 2.4

Mailstream Manager is an award-winning solution for policy-centric message processing and comprehensive content scanning of inbound, outbound and internal messaging for a broad range of security threats, regulatory compliance issues, corporate governance needs and archiving policies. In addition to providing immediate protection from diverse email security threats – including spam, viruses, phishing, spyware, dangerous URLs and other email abuse, the powerful Mailstream Manager policy engine provides messaging compliance by enabling point and click creation of policies for the enforcement of SB 1386, GLBA and HIPAA, among others.

New features include:

    • Improved accuracy detecting and blocking image-based spam • Full support for Sendmail Milter v2, which allows for bi-directional policy management from Mailstream Manager to Sendmail-integrated third party solutions • Improved handling and management of very large messages – 5 MB and above • Packaged policies for HIPAA and GLBA compliance

Sendmail Flow Control 2.0

Recently patented, Sendmail Flow Control is designed to increase ROI by dramatically reducing message volume – from unwanted messages and attacks – prior to filtering or mail store handling. Flow Control monitors and controls SMTP traffic using built in intelligence to predict and block nefarious connections, effectively reducing unwanted messaging by as much as 50 percent before traditional spam filtering is applied.

New to Flow Control 2.0

    • The ability to update firewall rules via the SAM protocol, which further reduces system load by performing blocks against a sender at the TCP level rather than the application level. Certified firewalls and packet filters are: Cisco PIX, Checkpoint Firewall-1, and iptables • IP Reputation service to identify and score senders, and manage connections accordingly. Used in conjunction with SMTP connection control provides an extra layer of defense to stop targeted attacks and reduce false positives Availability
Sendmail Sentrion 2.0, Flow Control 2.0 and Mailstream Manager 2.4 are available now for customers worldwide.
