Job Description
Sendmail's Engineering team is looking for a QA Engineer that has experience with email and UNIX environments and working knowledge of Agile software development methodology. A QA Engineer will require little mentoring help from fellow members of the team and will be sufficiently able to perform tasks independently. The expectations of a QA Engineer are as follows:
- Meet with the Product Manager (customer) to drive the definition of the requirements for the story being worked on by documenting them in acceptance test cases.
- Manually execute those test cases and update the results on an ongoing basis until the verification of the story is complete.
- Work with junior QA Engineers and QA Engineers in a mentoring role on an as needed basis.
- Automate GUI test cases and work with other QA Engineers to automate back-end tests with little or no direction.
- Independently and without supervision, run load, performance, and stress tests.
- Manage known issues from the bug tracking system and provide Technical Support with updates that can be fed into the Knowledge Base.
- Assist with escalations for customer issues that are presented by the Escalation Manager.
- Volunteer to spearhead new QA initiatives as they are presented.
Qualified candidates must have:
- Bachelor degree from an accredited college in Computer Science or Information Systems.
- At least 5 to 7 years of QA experience.
- Working knowledge of agile software development methodology.
- Working knowledge of UNIX and TCP/IP networking.
- Working knowledge of one or more of the following technologies: Java, junit, Perl, C, C++, HTTP.
- Hands on experience with a commercial automation GUI tool such as Borland Segue Silk.
- Working knowledge of email related technologies such as SMTP/IMAP/LDAP.
- Basic knowledge of SMTP load test tools such as mstone.
