Job Description

Our services division includes a consulting team that helps Sendmail customers plan for, install, configure, and operate our products on their networks. Our customers run some of the biggest networks around, and our consulting group helps to keep them up and running.

We are recruiting a professional services consultant. You will frequently be on-site with enterprise customers, working with them on designing and building their networks. You will work with the Sendmail source code, supporting tools, and scripting languages. You must have significant experience making Sendmail work as a network administrator to be considered for this position.

Our customers include some of the world's largest ISPs and corporations. This in an opportunity for you to be involved in planning and building email networks for enterprise customers.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Working on-site and acting as the main point of contact, for Sendmail customers.
• Resolving complex problems quickly and accurately
• Understanding the Sendmail product line, and helping to move customers from opensource versions of the product to commercial versions
• Representing Sendmail best practices for deployment, tuning and administering email systems
• Customizing and supporting Sendmail's software, and helping accounts with on-site architectural review and network planning and design sessions, to be sure that their systems will work properly
• Working with Sendmail customers to test their networks and configurations with new versions of Sendmail and third party products
• Working with the product development & applications group to be sure that customer feedback makes it into new product designs

Requirements

• Minimum four years' experience in a systems administration position with demonstrated troubleshooting skills
• Strong technical ability in UNIX system and network administration on multiple platforms e.g. Linux, Sun/Solaris, BSD, etc.
• Solid understanding of networking, Internet and electronic mail concepts and solutions including mail addressing, delivery systems, Directories (AD, Open LDAP), configuration design, maintenance, administration and security
• Knowledge of how to configure the Sendmail MTA (opensource or commercial)
• Familiarity with Perl
• Strong scripting and programming skills
• Shell scripting experience is also desirable

Additional Experience

• Self-starter, customer focused, team player BA/BS degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or the equivalent in work experience.

• Effective interpersonal skills
• Experience with Lotus Domino and/or MS Exchange a plus
• Consulting background helpful
• Frequent Travel, sometimes internationally
