Product Manager

Job Description

As a Product Manager, you will own most all aspects of the product and product-related deliverables to best position the solution to the target customer base and the broader market. The product management role is responsible for creating an outside-in product strategy based on understanding and solving real problems, and in fulfilling this, is continuously in contact with customers, prospects and other market resources. Equally important in developing the product strategy is the ability to drive the development and fulfillment of this in bringing a solution to market.

To be successful, you must effectively communicate and work with all areas of the business. You will interface with customers, the sales and field organization to both understand their needs and train/position new features coming to market, interface with engineering to drive development, interface with marketing to build collateral and tools to bring products to market, and interface with executives to align support for key objectives and initiatives. Effective product managers should be highly motivated and be able to thrive on added responsibilities in balancing needs from all business units.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Analyze and assess market needs from all sources (sales, services, support, technical/buyer customers, competition, market direction, market analysts, market opportunities, and more)
  • Develop market and product strategy for growth and success
  • Balance strategic and tactical needs for translation into market/product requirements and roadmaps
  • Drive requirements through product development cycle, including design, implementation, testing and maintenance
  • Prepare and execute on product launch and/or go-to-market plans, including pricing, sales training, and marketing
  • Analyzing potential partner relationships
  • Support sales and marketing efforts as required. Some travel required
  • Generate content for outbound marketing material (i.e., datasheets, whitepapers, etc.)

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software marketing/product management experience in related field
  • Sendmail and/or E-mail messaging experience preferred
  • BS/MS Computer Engineering degree or work experience in technology field a strong plus
  • Must be resourceful, proactive and aggressive
  • Team player that works well in collaborative situations and start-up environments
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required
  • Natural leadership skills and the ability to work with all teams in the company
  • Familiarity with Internet technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, LDAP, etc) a plus
