Sendmail, Inc. is seeking an experienced leader to head up the Professional Services and Applications team.
The desired candidate will have a strong hands-on technical background within field sales environments and demonstrated team building skills in the delivery of solutions to enterprise customers. Strong team leadership abilities for managing technical staff engaged with multiple projects and customers is required. This position requires outstanding writing and speaking skills to work effectively in a collaborative environment. Prior experience as Director/Manager of Professional Services in an IT product solutions company is required.
The candidate must have the following skills and experience:
- A demonstrable track record of 5-7+ years of managing Professional Services projects and teams of technical consultants which deliver quality work on billable projects such as installing, customizing, and integrating appliance solutions.
- Experience managing implementation of professional services with a goal of generating revenue and maintaining utilization %.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including negotiation techniques with business and legal acumen
- Knowledge in gathering customer requirements and scoping projects, including conducting technical and business analysis and advising account teams on project feasibility, estimated costs, schedule, and deliverables.
- Solid management experience in directing the deployment of distributed, mission critical enterprise systems and their components.
- Solid understanding of networking, Internet and electronic mail concepts and solutions including mail addressing, delivery systems, Directories (AD, Open LDAP), configuration design, maintenance, administration and security
- A natural creative problem solver whom uses technical innovation due to awareness of IT trends, platforms, and customer references to lead by example.
The candidate will have the following responsibilities:
- Direct and supervise the post-sales team located in United States.
- Manage project schedules, ensure project milestones deliverables are within time and budget parameters to meet engagement requirements
- Preparation and communication of status reports to project sponsors, customers, field staff, and executives.
- Full responsibility for Services engagements, starting from initial proposal and Statements of Work, through scope, implementation and delivery of large, mission-critical enterprise systems
- Must proactively work with sales team to identify, scope and estimate potential services opportunity to support company product sales and services quota.
- Mentor and train Professional Services team members
- Represent the field in headquarters cross functional product planning meetings, including making recommendations and providing feedback.
- Work closely with Engineering and Product Management to represent the customer in product escalations.
- Development of courseware for Sendmail product line.
