Virtualization Strategy Magazine: The Impractical Reality of Deploying Virtualiztion in Real World Environments

I recently took the time to write an opinion piece around deploying virtualization in enterprise networks. The piece focuses on contrasting upper management’s theoretical views vs. the hands-on system administrator’s actual assessment on implementation.

As many of you may know, despite upper management’s strong push toward virtualization and the belief in all of its marketed benefits given (a) the requirements of a messaging environment and the high SLAs they are held responsible for and (b) the practical limitations and issues around virtualization specific to large enterprises, it is not always a feasible option for deployment.  However, for smaller environments, and most certainly for lab environments, users could absolutely realize the marketed benefits of virtualization without question.

My opinion piece, “The Impractical Reality of Deploying Virtualization in Real World Environments” was published by Virtual Strategy Magazine  and can be read here.

Hope you’ll take time to read the article and pass it along to your colleagues. Let me know what you think or if you have anything to add by leaving your comments on our blog.
