Why are businesses choosing Sendmail during this down economy?

Sendmail is reporting record sales during this down economy and I am often asked about why businesses choose Sendmail over competing products from some well known anti-spam/anti-virus providers. The answer is actually quite straight forward.

During tough economic times, a closer inspection about where the money is going occurs. This has been good for Sendmail as our customers end up recognizing the need for an infrastructure platform as a foundation for a variety of applications, including, but not limited to, anti-spam and anti-virus message cleansing. The message security competitors in our industry often position their filtering solutions as offering the same infrastructure capabilities, but under head to head evaluation by a technically astute buyer, it becomes clear that Sendmail was designed as an infrastructure solution, while our competitorsí products were designed to combat spam/malware and are only a point solution.

By choosing the Sendmail Sentrion, even if solely to perform a point solution function like combating spam/malware, organizations gain a directory-driven, policy-based inbound and outbound routing platform which can be expanded with various add-on applications including inline filtering, compliance workflow, data loss prevention, encryption, etc. without the need to buy or integrate separate products.

Sentrions are unique in that they are designed to operate at both the internal policy layer and the external protection layer while other solutions are primarily designed to solely operate in the external protection layer. Customers who deploy other solutions can continue to do so as an inbound mail filtering application while Sentrions are deployed in the internal policy layer for both inbound routing and outbound messaging flow.

In summary, if a customer is solely interested in inbound message filtering, any one of the commoditized security appliances out there will do the job. But if customers see the growing complexities of managing both inbound and outbound mail as important, they will choose the Sentrion as the core infrastructure solution with more flexibility and long term options.
